We know that the bond between mother and child is to be cultivated and celebrated this Sunday ... and women often talk about memories of shopping with their moms in nostalgic terms. Moms are responsible for a high percentage of all buying decisions, so it makes a lot of sense that they are the ones that teach their children how to shop ... to look for certain qualities in products, value in pricing and even with establishing boundaries in shopping frequency.
My own mother-daughter shopping experiences growing up in post war Europe were vastly different from those that I see today, but many of the same principles still apply. Women naturally transfer consumer habits, preferences and experiences across generations.
Shopping trips can be a form of ritual entertainment ... a special way to build lasting memories. And the best mother-daughter jaunts blend a little bit of everything: great locations, delicious foods, and (of course) the best shopping!
We were delighted to be a part of such a dynamic experience. We recently got to meet our beautiful mother-daughter customer models Anna (daughter) and Darlene (mother) who were out on the town together enjoying a beautiful day excursion with extended family. Anna, a young lady that works in the fashion industry and knows what she likes, selected for herself a very feminine and pretty floral 'R' brand maxi length sundress. One that's very easy to dress up or down depending on the occasion ... and an excellent choice for travel, because of its soft material composition! She'll get a ton of use out of this one over the summer! Darlene tried on the same dress in the contrasting color option. They were so adorable in the matching outfits that we all couldn't help but smile! In the end Anna stayed true to her flattering selection, but Darlene opted to take home instead ... a gorgeous, black, ruched front jumpsuit that absolutely captured her elegant style individuality. Unfortunately I was helping another customer when she modeled it, and I missed the opportunity to photograph her in it! I'm hoping to get a photo from her wearing it 'out in the wild' soon!
The reminder is to slow down and enjoy all kinds of moments with one another. In order to wear clothes, eat food and decorate our homes, someone has to go shopping for the family. When possible ... why not make it a fun, joint, family, mother-daughter experience?
